Technology - Skype Thing 7

Skype is my new friend - great way for me to keep in touch with my traveling kids. One son in Morocco - with Skype he was able to say hi and friends and family at Thanksgiving. I could even ask him that Mom question, is it time to cut your hair? We can set up talk times in advance, and beat the time zone issues.

This is awesome. My daughter leaves for Bali end of January, and the whole family will visit her in May. I went to MyPics Map, put in Bali, and can't wait to leave. Such an interesting range of pictures - beaches, sunsets, organic farming, wildlife, birds. Pretty amazing.

The Bethesda Library Teen space, with some awesome teens. It took a lot of cooperative work to create this space, including help with Washington Post Makeover Column, Tuscan Blue Design, library management and of course the teens.

Blog setup

Been there, did that. I've been meaning to set one up for all the teen books I read and promptly forget about. Now I can do one for that purpose too.

Life Long Learning Habits

Who knew there were 7 1/2 habits? Maybe that's been my problem. I'll begin with my goal - completion of this course, CEU credits, and most importantly, learning some technology tools. My work with teens always has me on the go, learning new ways to communicate. But now I'll seriously investigate these new tools. If the 7th rule is teach/mentor others, I'm nominating Patricia Buck as the patient teacher of the year.

Navigating the System

Well it took many days, several emails and colleague intervention/assistance before I could finally signup for this program. I'm ever optimistic that the rest will be a piece of cake.
